A Street Management Innovator
Our analysis suggests that the City of Seattle is an innovator in street management. The Seattle Department of Transportation’s New Mobility Playbook, sets up a system of thinking prospectively about the systems that need to be in place to ensure that advances in Smart Mobility further the overall goals of the City.
Seattle is also actively working towards Context-Sensitive Streets, specifically in their neighborhood-based Home Zone Projects and new flexible curbside management guide. These projects represent an increasing level of community control over streets, but there remains a gap between these local efforts and the City-wide principles for smart and connected mobility.
