Our analyses suggest that Barcelona is an urban design innovator, using design principles to achieve goals in Smart Mobility and in the development of Context-Sensitive Streets. Specifically, Barcelona has built Superblocks, or a new neighborhood design to divide streets into walkable, safe blocks and keep traffic outside in a gridded pattern. 

Barcelona's vision and policies around digital capabilities in mobility are less developed and are more focused on partnering with third party entities to pilot specific enabling technologies, such as autonomous vehicles and IoT use cases.
